Email songtide@dcoded.dev with questions, bug reports or ideas. Include your macOS version and the Songtide version (Songtide › About Songtide).

Installing

Open the downloaded Songtide.dmg and drag Songtide into the Applications folder. Songtide is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens like any other app.

Updates

Songtide updates itself: it checks once a day, downloads new versions in the background and installs them the next time you quit. To check now, choose Songtide › Check for Updates. To decide for yourself when to update, turn off Update automatically in Settings › General.

Signing in

Click Sign in at the bottom of the sidebar, or use Settings › Account. You sign in directly with Google; Songtide never sees your password. To switch between your YouTube channels, click your name at the bottom of the sidebar and pick a channel.

Music keeps playing after I close the window

That's on purpose, so you can keep listening from the menu bar. Turn off Keep playing when the window is closed in Settings › General to change it.

Where did the Dock icon go?

By default Songtide shows its Dock icon only while a window is open. Change this with Show Songtide in in Settings › General.

Songtide plays a music video instead of the song

Set Preferred playback to Song in Settings › Playback, or switch the track to Song on the player page.

The equalizer or visualizer can't hear the music

To shape or visualize the sound, Songtide captures its own playback, never other apps or your microphone, and nothing is recorded or saved. If you declined the permission, allow Songtide in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Screen & System Audio Recording, under System Audio Recording Only.

Something on the page stopped working

Songtide shows the YouTube Music website, which Google changes from time to time. Email us and we'll ship a fix in an update.
